Obol is a mark of passage paid in full and is used to unlock new Abilities (such as Bounce, Glide and Double Jump) for Stella at the various shrines on different Islands. There are 15 Obols in total. The Abilities are used to accomplish more in the game.

- 1 Obol is given by spirit characters when they board the ship or after one of their quests. Note that Bruce & Mickey will give Stella 2 Obols. There are about 12 of these.
- 1 Obol can be bought from a shop in Edgeborough Lane for 2,000 Glim.
- 1 Obol can be acquired from Hades after 8 spirits have been delivered. Bruce & Mickey count for only one.
- 1 Obol can be acquired on Greymist Peaks (see page for more details).

- An obol was a form of ancient Greek currency and weight, typically copper or bronze. When a person died in ancient Greece and Rome, the deceased would be buried with the obol(s) placed either on their mouth, under their tongue, or over their eyes so as to be able to pay Charon for passage in the afterlife.
- Giovanni, despite being a spirit, does not give an Obol when he first joins the ship. Instead he gives it to you later in his quest line. Similarly, Bruce & Mickey will only give their Obols when their spirit house is fully upgraded. You will receive the Obols once you fulfil these conditions and arrive to Greymist Peaks
