Beverly is a Spirit found in Spiritfarer. She was released on August 31st in the Summer 2021 update.

About[]

Life[]

Beverly is Stella's old neighbor. She'd been rather lonely on Oxbury and is eager to join Stella and reminisce about the past with someone familiar. She first mentions 3 people, Henry, Sarah and David. Henry and Sarah are her children, and David her husband, who passed before her. David was a math teacher for a high school named Chelsea High. Beverly met David on a blind date, as her friend Pauline, who was the school's secretary, matched them up. She also mentions that her family house was designed by a professional architect, yet had to sell it when she was alone, as her children had moved out. The house was a cozy little farmhouse and it meant the world to her. Beverly had many friends that she mentions very often, and she loves to tell stories to Stella.

Stella and Beverly met as neighbours when Beverly moved to the city after selling her farmhouse. It seems that as she got older, her memory started to fade, and began to forget names and recent events, causing her to repeat the same things to Stella over and over again.

Dialogue[]

Food[]

  • Favorite dish: Laksa Laksa
  • Likes:
    • "I always liked the words 'old' and 'fashioned', sweet pea. Something old is refined and wise. Something fashionable is cutting edge. That's what I want out of my meals. I'll be enjoying this OLD-FASHIONED meal!"
    • "Oh, thank you, sweet pea. I feel much better now. That's what EXOTIC food does. An instant warm blanket!"
  • Dislikes:
    • "Oh, no! I can't touch anything that's a STIMULANT! If you think I'm a bit intense already, these things make me look demented! It's not that I don't like them. I just don't like how they make me feel. I'm already at the right amount of Bev!"
    • "Oh, wow. No, thank you. Let's put a pin in that. Metaphorically and literally. I don't feel like trying something a hundred times to find out if I like it now. That sounds like a terrible experience. An ACQUIRED TASTE when it comes to food isn't always a good thing."
  • Same item:
    • "This is nice and all. If you didn't realize it, I had this recently. I like it, but not for every meal."
    • "You don't have anything else? Your goal should be to add some variety in the kitchen."
    • "Nice try, sweet pea. That's the same meal as yesterday!"
  • Hungry:
    • "I sure am hungry. It's gotta be the fact that I haven't eaten in a while."
    • "I could go for a snack."
  • Not hungry:
    • "I'm not hungry right now."
  • Glue:
    • "I don't feel so good."

Hugs[]

  • Hugging:
    • "That was nice."
    • "We both needed that!"
  • Second hug:
    • "Let's take a quick pause on that."
    • "Oh! My bones don't feel like it."
    • "That's quite alright. I'm not in the mood for a hug right now."

Favors[]

  • Knitting:
  • Chairs:
  • Fireglow:

At The Everdoor[]

Potential spoilers ahead!
  • Stella rowing towards the Everdoor: I... I know... I... Remember... Do you? The neighbourhood? We... We were... There... With the... The flowers. We were... There... In that... That building... Almost... Next door... You and me... We were... We were... Neighbours.
  • Just before the Everdoor: You were... Always there... There... There for me... Stella.
  • At the Everdoor: Goodbye... Sweet pea.

Game Notes[]

  • Her model is very small as compared to the other passengers, making her a bit harder to find. Thus, always keep her house within vicinity of the bell every morning
  • She gives out free Fireglows when happy, so you can keep her for a while after her missions are done to free up some garden slots for other plants
  • She can be the last passenger to be brought to the Everdoor
  • Bear in mind that Beverly requires much more attention than the rest of the passenger as she is both affected by Giovanni and Bruce and Mickey

Trivia[]

  • Beverly's Clocktower can be seen in Gwen's trailer
    • Interestingly, she was not added to the game yet two years after the trailer was released

Trivia[]

Artbook Entry[]

Everyone knows a “Beverly”: someone sincere, blunt and unapologetic. When they speak, their words sound harsher than they really are. They put it plainly, but their intent is never to be mean. That’s just the power of words, or more so, quick wit.

Born in a small rural community in Georgia, Beverly knew everyone in town. Thanks in part to her extended family and her incredible social skills, her plainspokenness made her many friends and even more enemies. She always had a piece of gossip to dish around. Her ace in the hole would be that comment that would make you rethink that second helping of pie or you holding hands with your girlfriend before marriage.

After moving up North to the city, her link to that small community was somewhat broken, having fewer friends and family. She might say that “my kids have families of their own”, to explain why they didn’t visit often.

She finds comfort in the presence of her younger downstairs neighbour, Stella. As time progresses, her illness, Alzheimer’s, becomes a bigger burden on her. Defined by her choice of words and her impeccable memory, she feels her brain slowly tricking her. The desire to pass along her life’s stories becomes her main focus. Stella is right there, documenting her memories, for this arduous task.

The red anemone, Beverly’s flower, was a powerful symbol of death and the act of forsaken love in Greek myths. Those themes were explored with the loss of Beverly’s husband at a young age and her disease eating away at her most valuable trait, her memory.[1]
